Committing Poetry Again

I don’t do it often, but I’m recovering from something that knocked me flat yesterday, probably fatigue related, as it has been an incredibly long week-or-so. I tend to get sick when I run the tank too low. Fortunately, the fever broke in the night, so I’m on the mend. But the brain functions are still catching up.

So, poetry. I was inspired by a piece of really lovely poetry posted in a FB group, sadly, I don’t think it has been published for me to share. Mine isn’t as good.

Ashes and Coals

Catch my breath for me,

I have lost it in your embrace.

Your kisses so sweetly

Stole it away and now

I need it to live and go on.

Going deeper into your arms

Seeking with abandon

The pleasure we create.

Warmth spirals upward,

Filling me to overflowing

Your touch moves onward,

And I am aflame.

Ah, consume me in your fire

Slake your thirst with my body.

Leave me no desire

Only ashes and coals.

Touch me, take me, need me.

I am yours and for you

Anything I will do, will be.

Two skins knit together as one,

Two breaths intermingled now.

One great power and yes,

One great gift to endow

You to me, and I to you.

Come with me to find it,

Our gift to one another,

My breath to bind it,

Your embrace to hold it.

Ah, consume me in your fire

Slake your thirst with my body.

Leave me no desire

Only ashes and coals.
